Hi everyone. It’s been quite some time since I had last done a movie review. However, I was into the hype of Homecoming at my school though. But anyways, let’s review Carrie (1976). It’s also Stephen King’s 1st book as an author as well.

CAST:

Sissy Spacek - Carrie White

Piper Laurie - Margaret White

Amy Irving - Sue Snell

William Katt - Tommy Ross

John Travolta - Billy Nolan

WARNING: SPOILERS!!

Carrie White, a Shy 16-Year Old, lives with her unstable mother, who is a religious zealot, is unpopular at school, & often bullied by her peers. But when Carrie experiences her first period in the school shower, she panics, having never been told about this process. Carrie's classmates bully her about it, until the gym teacher, Miss Collins, intervenes.

Following conversations with Miss Collins &

the principal, Carrie is dismissed from school for the day. After arriving home, Margaret tells Carrie that her menstruation was caused by sin, & she locks Carrie in an altar-like prayer closet, so that she pray for forgiveness. Back at school, Collins reprimands Carrie's tormentors, punishing them with a 1 week worth of detention during gym class. She threatens that those who skip the detention, will be suspended for 3 days, & be excluded from the upcoming prom. However, Christine Hargensen (Carrie’s long-time bully), walks out & gets excluded from the prom.

Plotting vengeance against Carrie, Christine & her boyfriend Billy Nolan break into a farm, & kill pigs, in order to drain their blood into a bucket, which they place above the school's stage in the gymnasium. Elsewhere, Norma plans to rig the Prom Queen election in Carrie's favor to get her on the stage. Meanwhile, Sue Snell asks her handsome & popular boyfriend, Tommy Ross, to invite Carrie to the prom. Carrie believes that the proposal is a prank. But he insists that it is genuine, & she accepts it reluctantly after Miss Collins consoles her.

Back at home, she begins to discover that she has telekinesis as she shakes off her shyness. Despite Margaret's protests, Carrie puts on a flattering dress & hairstyle for the prom. Margaret sees Carrie's telekinetic powers, & denounces her as a witch before Carrie leaves with Tommy.

During the prom, Christine & Billy hide underneath the stage, while the other conspirators switch the ballots to make sure that Carrie wins the Prom Queen title. As Carrie stands onstage with Tommy, finally beginning to feel accepted by her peers. Sue realizes Christine & Billy's plan, & begins to intervene. Then, Miss Collins spots Sue. Thinking that she is up to no good, kicks her out of the prom.

Christine & Billy pull the rope attached to the bucket of pig blood, dousing Carrie, & they sneak out of the school. The empty bucket hits the outraged Tommy in the head, & he collapses. The crowd is left shocked and speechless at the prank. But Carrie hallucinates that everyone, even Miss Collins, is mocking her.

THEY’RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!!

Then, in a sudden outburst, she telekinetically injuries, & kills the people who are attending the prom. Even the ones who left the school. After she gets her ultimate revenge, she returns home, & takes a bath to remove the pig’s blood. Sounds like she had the ultimate revenge.

After she takes a bath, Margaret comforts Carrie, & then she stabs her in the back with a kitchen knife, & she chases her through the house. During the fight, Carrie levitates several sharp implements, & sends them flying toward Margaret, crucifying her, she destroys the house, & she perishes.

Sometime after, Sue is the only survivor of the prom. But she has a nightmare, in which she goes to lay flowers on the charred remains of Carrie's home. Suddenly, Carrie's bloody arm reaches from beneath the debris, & grabs Sue's forearm. Sue wakes up screaming in terror as her mother tries to comfort her.

THE END

Carrie (1976). Is a great Stephen King Movie, like Misery (1990). However, there are 2 remakes of the same film…

1. TV Movie from 2002.

2. 2013 Remake, starring Chloë Grace Moretz

However, my Dad likes the OG better.
