Aliens (1986)

Review Date: June 17th, 2022

Hi everyone. It’s been about a week & a half since I had last done a movie review. However, things weren’t as hectic as they were about a couple of weeks ago. But now that I’m out of school for the summer, it should give me lots of time to do more movie reviews & stuff. But anyways, time for the movie.

Aliens. It is definitely 1 of the greatest sequels of all time. However, a lot of people really enjoyed Alien (1979) & Aliens (1986) though. So let’s get down to the review for today. But this time, it’s war!

CAST:

Sigourney Weaver - Ellen Ripley

Michael Biehn - Dwayne Hicks

Paul Reiser - Carter J. Burke

Lance Henriksen - Bishop

Carrie Henn - Rebecca “Newt” Jorden

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Ellen Ripley has been in stasis for 57 years aboard an escape shuttle after destroying the Nostromo, so that she can escape a lethal alien creature which murdered her crew. She is rescued & debriefed by her employers at the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, who are skeptical about her claim of alien eggs in a derelict ship on the exomoon LV-426, since it is now the site of the terraforming colony known as…

Hadley’s Hope

I have to admit that 57 years seems to be a wicked long time for someone to be in sleep or something. It gives me Sleeping Beauty vibes though.

After contact is lost with the colony, Weyland-Yutani representative Carter Burke & Colonial Marine Lieutenant Gorman ask Ripley to go with them to investigate. Still traumatized by her alien encounter, she agrees on the condition that they exterminate the creatures. Then, Ripley is introduced to the Colonial Marines & an android named…

Bishop

On the spaceship known as…

Sulaco

A dropship delivers the expedition to the surface of LV-426, where they find the battle-ravaged colony & 2 live alien facehuggers in containment tanks. But no bodies/colonists except for a traumatized young girl, nicknamed…

Newt

The team locates the colonists beneath the fusion-powered atmosphere processing station, & heads to their location, descending into alien-secretion-covered corridors. At the station center, the Marines find opened eggs & dead facehuggers, alongside the cocooned colonists now serving as incubators for the creatures' offspring. The Marines kill an infant alien after it bursts from a colonist's chest, rousing multiple adult aliens who ambush the Marines & kill/capture many of them.

After the ambush, Ripley, Newt, & the other colonists get into many more dangers. Some of them are killed, rescued, & captured as well. However, Ripley discovers that Burke wants to weaponize is the Xenomorphs by any means necessary for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. He even released 2 facehuggers to impregnate both Ripley & Newt.

Sometime after the plot twist about Burke, the power is suddenly cut, & the aliens attack through the ceiling. In the ensuing firefight, the aliens kill Burke, subdue Hudson, injure Hicks, & the cornered Gorman and Vasquez sacrifice themselves so that they can avoid being captured by them. Newt is separated from Ripley, & taken by the creatures. Ripley brings Hicks to Bishop in the 2nd dropship. But she refuses to abandon Newt & arms herself before descending into the processing station hive alone to rescue her. Ripley & Newt seem to have a bond though. Almost like a mother & daughter bond.

During their escape, they encounter the alien queen surrounded by dozens of eggs, & when 1 of the eggs starts to open, Ripley uses her weapon to destroy them all & the queen's ovipositor. Pursued by the enraged queen, Ripley & Newt join Bishop & Hicks on the dropship & escape moments before the station explodes, consuming the colony in a nuclear blast.

On the Sulaco, the group is ambushed by the queen, who stowed away in the dropship's landing gear. The queen tears Bishop in half & advances on Newt. But Ripley fights the creature with an exosuit cargo-loader. The final battle between Ripley & the Alien Queen is awesome. Here is the scene. But it will be in 3 videos from the top video to the bottom video:

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS MAY CONTAIN SOME COARSE LANGUAGE! VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!

Then, Ripley gets off of the exosuit cargo-loader, & expels the Alien Queen through an airlock into space. After the final battle, Ripley, Newt, Hicks, & Bishop, who is critically damaged go into hypersleep for their return trip to Earth.

THE END (for now)

This movie is as good as the 1st film from 1979. However, Alien 3 (1992) takes place immediately after the events of this movie. But we do get to see a very bald head like my grandpa (my Mother’s father) in the threequel though.

OVERALL: 10/10
